WHALE WATCHING HERVEY BAY

From late July to early November, Hervey Bay - the Whale Watch Capital of the World has proven to be a favoured stopover point for the mighty humpback whales.

Yes you can see whales elsewhere but there is a difference. Other locations on the East Coast of Australia are in open ocean where the sea conditions can vary form a large swell to being quite rough. There the whales are swimming continuously and you will only see glimpses of them.

In Hervey Bay the whales come to rest and play in the calm waters of the Bay which is protected by Fraser Island to the east. Humpback whales perform for you and some will come right up to your boat. Each year we are seeing more whales and they are staying longer.

There are up to thirteen vessels offering a variety of whale watching cruises out of Hervey Bay. Half day cruises morning and afternoon, sunrise cruises, three quarter day and full day .

Vessels range in size from 20 to 120 passengers.
